The World Academy of Sport (including its associated companies and partner Sport Academies) ("WAoS", “us”, “our”, or “we”) have created this information and privacy statement to demonstrate its firm commitment to privacy. The following is a full description of our information gathering and dissemination practices for and its associated sites including but not limited to,,,,,,,, ("the site"). It sets out the way in which any personal information we collect from you, or that you provide to us, will be processed by us. The WAoS is based in England and as such is subject to the various provisions of the Data Protection Act 1998 (the Act) and the control of the Information Commissioners Office (see For the purpose of the Act the data controller is the World Academy of Sport Services Ltd having its principal place of business at Stanlo House, 52 Granby Row, Manchester M1 7AY, UK.

Collection of Information

In general, you can visit the site without providing personal information. However, there may be times when we will request personal information in order that you may participate in the site's activities or features.

Information is typically requested when you wish to take part in certain activities available on the site (such as when you wish to undertake self-assessment programme, enter contests, contact us, request particular information or subscribe to our newsletter services or other services (for example, subscription services)) that may be or become available on the site. If you contact us, we may keep a record of that correspondence.

The site administers the programmes of WAoS and its partner sports and where you provide information in relation to a particular sport programme or activity that information shall be made available to that International Federation. In each instance a reference shall be made at the beginning of each programme that informs you of whom your information shall be made available to if it is in addition to the WAoS. If you do not want your information being made available to the stated organisation(s) please do not provide it to us.

The personal information collected may include, but is not limited to the following: name, involvement in sport, age, country of residence, nationality, gender, e-mail address, home address, chosen password to access certain parts of the site and/or your confirmation that you have read and agree with the Terms and Conditions of Use applicable to the site. In common with many other website operators, we may use standard technology called 'cookies' on the site. Cookies are small pieces of information that are stored by your browser on your computer's hard drive. We only use cookies for one purpose: to tell us in what language the site should be presented to you. Most browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually change your browser to prevent cookies being stored. However, if you adjust your browser setting in this way, you may be unable to access certain parts of the site.

When you submit personal information to WAoS through the site, you agree that your information may be stored and processed by and/or on behalf of the WAoS.

WAoS may collect information about your interaction with the site and the services on the site. This may include information about your computer and, where available, your IP address operating system and browser type. In particular, WAoS reserves the right to perform statistical analysis of user behaviour and characteristics in order to measure interest in and use of the various areas of the site and to ascertain the number of users that have visited particular web pages. In performing statistical analysis, parts of the site use Google Analytics (a web analytics service provided by Google, Inc.) to capture and analyze site statistics. WAoS confirms that in general it will only use the personal information you provide within WAoS. Where we want to pass your personal information on to someone else, unless you have already and/or previously given us your permission to do so, we will tell you - refer to the notices on particular web pages that let you know why we are requesting the information and to whom it will be made available. The option will then be yours to submit your personal information or not.

How We Use the Information

We collect and use your information in order to give you a better service, to provide you with information you request, including information about the WAoS, its programmes and those of its partners. Your information is also used to fulfil your requests for certain services and/or to participate in certain activities (for example, to facilitate you undertaking the available self-assessment programme) and/or to make the site more useful to you.

The personal information you provide may be used by us or our associated organisations to deliver the information you request. Your personal information is also used to contact you when necessary (for example, to inform you of the results of a self-assessment programme you undertake, to contact winners of competitions or games and/or to confirm the contact details you have provided to WAoS). In order to access some services or parts of the site, you will be asked to sign in with an e-mail address and to choose a password. In this case your chosen password and other information (including e-mail address) are collected and used to create a unique logon for you to access the services or a particular part of the site (including to access and/or take advantage of certain services available on the site).

You have the right to prevent marketing information being sent direct to you. If you prefer not to receive information from us or from any other organisation to which we may disclose your personal information, ensure that you do not tick the "opt in" box which appears where you are submitting your personal information. The associated organisations to which, with your permission, we will release your personal information are limited to our International Federation sport partners and the Member Federations or local organising committee’s thereof, WAoS (including its associated companies) and organisations associated with us. WAoS will only disclose your personal information without notice when it believes disclosure to be required by law or regulation, or necessary to protect or defend the rights or property of WAoS, the safety of the public or the users of the site.

Electronic Communications

We comply with the terms of the European Directive on Privacy and Electronic Communications (Directive 2002/58/EC) and, in particular:

• We will not send you unsolicited communications unless you have consented to receiving them;

• Communications we do send you will always give you an address which you may contact to opt out of receiving further communications.

Please understand that where you have opted out of receiving further communications, it may take us a few days to process your request.

Children under 16

If you are under 16, you must obtain the approval of a parent or guardian before you send us any of your personal information (such as your name, e-mail address, home address, date of birth etc).

Areas not covered by this policy

Personal information that you provide through chat sessions or email exchanges are not covered by this Policy. We will protect your privacy to the best of our ability by monitoring the sessions, but please keep in mind that you control the information you disclose when you are in a public forum.
